Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir inspected on Friday Talgo’s factory in Madrid where he followed up the six new trains set to be delivered to Egypt soon under a €157-million contract signed between Talgo and National Railways Authority.
Talgo’s officials briefed Wazir on the factory’s potentials and all the manufacturing phases, telling Wazir that manufacturing Egypt’s trains is a priority for the company.
Wazir directed the officials to consider some technical observations before shipping the first train to Egypt.
The minister said the deal comes within a framework of the Transport Ministry’s comprehensive plan to develop the entire railway system.
Talgo trains are one of the fruitful contracts, that had been signed under the sponsorship of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, to develop the railway sector, he pointed out.
The first train will arrive in Egypt in mid-December, he added.
