Amman: In the first ten days of August, 16 deaths and 29 serious injuries were recorded as a result of traffic accidents in various governorates of the Kingdom, according to data released by the Public Security Directorate (PSD).
Most of the accidents were the result of cell phone use, wrongful overtaking, excessive speed, and drivers’ failure to abide by traffic rules, according to the PSD.
The PSD emphasized the importance of citizens’ commitment to traffic safety guidelines to reduce such painful accidents that result in great human and material losses.
It called on drivers to exercise caution while driving, especially at peak times, and to pay attention to the condition of the roads and the prevailing weather conditions, stressing the need to avoid using cell phones while driving and to focus fully on the road.
