Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir discussed Friday 07/6/2024 with Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut ways to enhance cooperation in the field of agriculture, during a meeting they had on the sidelines of the activities of the 27th edition of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
According to a statement released by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, the meeting reviewed the trade exchange between Egypt and Russia, especially since more than 70% of Egyptian exports to Russia are agricultural products.
It pointed out that the meeting stressed the importance of continuing bilateral coordination on the file of agricultural and veterinary quarantine with the aim of developing trade relations between the two countries.
The two sides praised the growth of the volume of trade exchange between both countries in agricultural commodities by 6%.
Samir said that the two sides agreed on a road map until 2030 to get Russia acquainted with the strategic goods that Egypt would need in the futu
re, so that the Russian side can develop a long-term plan for seasonal goods that would be in high demand in the Egyptian market.
For her part, Lut said her country was keen on building bridges of economic cooperation with Egypt, especially in the agricultural field, noting the importance of activating joint efforts to open new horizons for increasing agricultural trade between the two countries.
The two sides agreed to facilitate procedures for the entry of Egyptian exports of food, dairy products and fish into the Russian market, as well as the export of some Russian veterinary products to Egypt, in addition to agreeing on the importance of pushing up joint cooperation to increase trade exchange between the two countries of agricultural and veterinary products.
