Cairo: Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sharif Fathy engaged in discussions with Hisham el Nazer, the Country Director for Google in Egypt, to explore potential collaborations aimed at promoting Egypt as an attractive tourist destination. This meeting, which took place on Saturday, November 2, 2024, aligns with the Ministry’s strategic shift towards digital marketing and leveraging social media platforms to boost tourism.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions centered around mechanisms to enhance Egypt’s visibility in global tourist markets through effective cooperation with tour agencies. The meeting emphasized the importance of providing these agencies with firsthand information about promotional campaigns conducted in collaboration with the Egyptian Tourism Authority.
The talks also explored the potential of utilizing Google’s advanced technologies and services to increase awareness of Egypt’s diverse tourist destinations. By highlighting these attractions, the Ministry aims to
attract more visitors and enhance their travel experiences.
Furthermore, the conversation delved into the use of “Google Street View” technology, which could offer Google search engine users a virtual glimpse into Egypt’s streets, commercial hubs, tourist hotspots, and archaeological sites. This initiative is part of a broader effort to integrate digital tools into the tourism sector, thereby enriching the experience for prospective tourists.
