Tourism min. probes updated national sustainable, responsible tourism

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Eissa met Sunday with a group of officials affiliated to the Italian consultancy firm in charge with updating a national strategy for a sustainable development of the tourism sector.

Held in the presence of CEO of the General Egyptian Authority for Tourism Promotion Amr el-Qady and Chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Federation (ETF) Ahmed El Wassief, the meeting took up the main themes of the strategy, previously set by the same firm in 2009.

The strategy was drawn up for promoting the national tourism industry in a sustainable manner by adopting a holistic approach that cover all aspect of this industry, in line with previously adopted national strategies, taking into account any changes of developments the sector had witnessed, according to a statement by the tourism ministry.

Briefing the minister on the strategy’s main themes and studies carried out for achieving sustainable tourism, the Italian officials said that the strategy pays great importance to optimizing modern technological resources and embrace digital transformation for the sector’s advancement.
