Tourism, environment, local development ministers discuss preparations for UN COP27

Tourism and Antiquities Minister Khaled El Anany, Local Development Minister Mahmoud Shaarawi, and Environment Minister Yasmin Fouad discussed on Monday 25/04/2022 developments of turning Sharm El-Sheikh into a green city and mechanisms of safe disposal of waste of hotel and tourism facilities in the city in terms of its upcoming host of the UN COP27.

The meeting reviewed developments of the integrated waste management system in Sharm El-Sheikh to turn it into a green and sustainable city as well as a number of infrastructure projects to develop this system.

The results of the ongoing talks with companies wishing to work in the solid waste system in South Sinai were also reviewed to raise the efficiency of collection, transport, treatment and recycling of waste.

The ministers asserted the importance of the role played by the local community and South Sinai residents to render this system successful.

They also tackled suggestions of tourist tours which the coming delegates will do in Sharm El-Sheikh, Aswan, Luxor and Saint Catherine during the conference’s period.
