The Israeli municipality of West Jerusalem today informed three Palestinian residents of Silwan neighborhood that their homes will be demolished for construction without a permit. Local sources said the Israeli municipality handed the three families the demolition order. The families can tear down their own homes by themselves or let the municipality do the demolition, which will cost them a lot of money. Getting a building permit in Silwan for a Palestinian is almost impossible, which often prompts families to build on their land without a permit in the hope that one may come later after the facts on the ground while taking grave risks in doing that.
