The Minister of Labour Hosts Turkish Counterpart to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation


Cairo: The Minister of Labour, Mr. Mohamed Gibran, welcomed the Turkish Minister of Labour and Social Security, Mr. Vedat Isikhan, along with his delegation, at his office in the New Administrative Capital. The meeting aimed to explore and discuss issues of mutual interest between the two nations.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions emphasized the long-standing and strategic relations between Egypt and Turkey, highlighting the commitment of both countries’ political leadership to deepen cooperation. A major focus was on intensifying collaboration in the near future and establishing a joint committee to implement a memorandum of understanding signed during President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s visit to Turkey in September 2024. This visit saw the signing of several agreements and memoranda across various sectors.

The ministers reviewed the vision devised by the joint working committee for the agreement’s implementation. They concluded the meeting by signing the minutes and the executive
plan, underscoring their desire to strengthen cooperation in labor-related areas. These include labor mobility, training, employment, the labor market, international relations, digital transformation, irregular employment, occupational health and safety, and comprehensive labor relations.

Furthermore, they discussed the potential for Egyptian labor mobility to Turkey, particularly in seasonal employment fields, and addressed the facilitation of residency and work permits for Turkish nationals employed in Egypt.

The Turkish delegation included high-profile individuals such as the Turkish Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Salah Mutlu Sen, and several members from the Turkish Parliament and the Ministry of Labour. On the Egyptian side, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Labour joined the discussions, further illustrating the high-level commitment to foster bilateral relations between the two countries.
