The Minister of Foreign Affairs participates in the work of the 158th session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of foreign ministers

His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the 158th session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the level of foreign ministers, which was held today at the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo.

In his speech at the council meeting, the foreign minister said that the Arab world is facing many challenges and crises today in light of a state of tension and conflict at the regional and international levels, which requires concerted Arab efforts to address the growing dangers and all that may destabilize Arab security, violate the sovereignty of our countries, ignite unrest and provoke strife.

He said that the Kingdom of Bahrain stresses the urgent need for Arab countries to unite and take all measures to combat the ideology of extremism and terrorism and reveal its sources of funding, which would destabilize security and stability in our Arab homeland.

He added that one of the constants of the Kingdom of Bahrain is the rejection of external interference in the internal affairs of any country, and we expect other countries to abide by this basic principle in regulating relations between countries and maintaining global security and stability. Arabi.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs affirmed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s firm position on the Palestinian issue, which will remain the mainstay for achieving peace in the region, and its support for the right of the brotherly Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the principle of the two-state solution, the Arab Peace Initiative and resolutions of international legitimacy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Bahrain’s welcome to the announcement by the UN Special Envoy for Yemen to extend the armistice in the sisterly Republic of Yemen for an additional two months, and its appreciation for the efforts of the UN Envoy to reach an expanded armistice agreement that paves the way for a permanent ceasefire and a comprehensive peaceful settlement of the conflict, in accordance with the Gulf initiative and its implementation mechanism, and the outputs of The National Dialogue, and Security Council Resolution No. 2216, to meet the aspirations of the brotherly Yemeni people for security, stability, peace, development and prosperity.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs stressed that water security is an integral part of Arab national security, expressing Bahrain’s support for Egypt and Sudan in the issue of the Renaissance Dam, and support for everything that preserves their legitimate rights and water security in the Nile River, and its support for efforts to reach a binding agreement on filling the Nile River. The operation of the Renaissance Dam prevents damage and benefits all parties.

The delegation of the Kingdom of Bahrain participating in the meeting included Mr. Hisham Mohammed Al-Jowder, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the League of Arab States and Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States, and Mr. Ahmed Al-Tarifi, Head of the Arab Affairs Sector at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the delegation accompanying the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
