Amman: Communication Minister Muhannad Mubaideen said Tuesday that the Government Communication Forum is part of the general policy for media aims to organise meetings between officials and the media to touch on the challenges public institutions face.
Mubaideen said the Government Communication Forum meetings follow royal directives for officials, decision-makers and experts to meet with the media to address sectoral and service issues, “We believe in the important role of professional and responsible media in accountability and highlighting the shortcomings in institutions.”
At the sixth Forum meeting, Mubaideen said there are directives from the government for the Ministry of Government Communication to be a “bridge for communication with the media and to enhance citizens’ confidence in the official narrative.”
He said Jordan is “steadfast” in calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, preventing the displacement of Gazans and continuing to send relief and humanitarian aid to the people of the enclave.
Mubaideen said, “The Jordanian Hashemite Charitable Organisation (JHCO) is the only body authorised to collect donations, whether cash or in-kind, from entities or individuals and send them to Gaza. Collecting donations must not violate the law.”
He explained that the “tragic” Israeli war on Gaza should not be used for purposes other than “alleviating the suffering of the people of the Strip,” adding that the Lower House approved the draft Social Development Law for the year 2023, which will address issues related to the topic.
