Iran’s acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri said that Israel “crossed a big red line” for his country by assassinating Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh on its territory, stressing that Tehran’s response to this crime is “definite.”
This came during a phone call with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar, on Saturday evening, regarding the assassination of Haniyeh in the capital, Tehran, last Wednesday.
Bagheri pointed out that Israel violated “Iran’s big red line” by assassinating Haniyeh, who was a guest in his country, and referred to what he called “Zionist crimes” against Yemen, Lebanon and Iran, according to the official “IRNA” agency.
He said, “This action will lead to two results: first, Iran’s decisive response to this crime, and second, the impact of the evil actions of the Zionists in destabilizing and escalating the crisis in the region, where the Islamic countries and the region must not remain silent about this.”
Baqeri proposed holding an extraordi
nary meeting of Islamic countries, calling on Pakistan to support this initiative and use its capabilities to prevent the continuation of the “criminal activities” of the Israelis
