TACHENG: Cui Yan Kun, Deputy Director of the Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism Bureau of Tacheng City, highlighted the city’s unique cultural significance as a dynamic model of cultural exchange and openness within the Belt and Road Initiative.
Speaking to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), Cui emphasised that despite its relatively small size, Tacheng has served as a historic crossroads of Chinese and European civilisations, home to 25 peacefully coexisting ethnic groups. This rich cultural tapestry has shaped the city’s distinctive identity over the centuries.
Cui noted the rapid economic growth and improved living standards in Tacheng, attributing much of this progress to its designation as a pilot zone for development and opening up. This has further solidified its position as a thriving cultural and economic centre on the New Silk Road.
The official underscored the city’s commitment to revitalising its cultural heritage through the establishment of museums and the hosting of international festivals
, such as the Accordion Art Festival and the International Oil Painting Exhibition. These initiatives, he said, reflect Tacheng’s openness to global cultures and its role as a bridge for communication between peoples.
Cui extended an invitation to visitors from around the world, urging them to discover Tacheng’s unique cultural diversity and experience the warm hospitality of its multi-ethnic population. He encouraged them to participate in the city’s diverse cultural events, which embody the spirit of coexistence and openness.
Located in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwestern China, Tacheng is considered one of the main gateways for the Belt and Road Initiative towards Central Asia and Europe.
