Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi on Friday 04/11/2022 discussed in a meeting with Francesco Rocca, President of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), aspects of joint cooperation.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the 17th UN Climate Change Conference of Youth (COY17) in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh on 3-5 November.
The two sides probed cooperation in volunteering and youth-capacity building.
The sports minister reviewed the programs carried out by his ministry to qualify and empower young people to address societal variables.
Sobhi hailed efforts exerted by the IFRC and the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC), as part of preparations for the 27th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP27) to be held in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm El Sheikh from November 6 to 18.
On his part, Rocca underlined the importance of giving space for young people to participate in making decisions and developing policies related to climate change.
In this regard, the IFRC president highlighted the key role played by the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in 192 world countries in leading the efforts to confront the humanitarian impacts of climate change in their communities and find innovative solutions.
