Sport Minister Charts Pathway for Egyptian Sports System Development Until 2028 Olympic


Cairo: Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi held a significant meeting with Engineer Yasser Idris, the Chairman of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, alongside the heads of Egyptian sports federations. This gathering followed the conclusion of the elections for sports federations in their new term.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting commenced with Dr. Ashraf Sobhi congratulating the Chairman and several federation heads on securing positions on the Board of Directors of the Olympic Committee. These positions were won by acclamation after the submission deadline had closed.

The Minister highlighted the transparency and significant changes in the recent sports federations’ elections, labeling them as among the best in recent years. These changes are expected to regulate the sports system effectively in the upcoming period.

Dr. Sobhi lauded the collaboration between the Ministry and the Egyptian Olympic Committee, emphasizing their joint efforts in monitoring federation plans and athl
ete competitions. He underscored the urgency of implementing comprehensive development plans to enhance the sports system, particularly focusing on national teams across all sports. The aim is to achieve further victories that align with the aspirations of Egyptian sports, resulting in championships and medals that would delight the Egyptian public.

He also mentioned the ministry’s national projects designed to cultivate new talents, which are available to sports federations to select the best representatives for Egypt’s national teams across various age groups.

Engineer Yasser Idris, the Chairman of the Egyptian Olympic Committee, expressed his appreciation for Dr. Sobhi’s visit to the Committee’s headquarters. He acknowledged the Ministry’s positive role in conducting the recent elections, which reflect well on the sports system.
