ABU DHABI: The Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC) and Spartan have announced that the fourth edition of the Spartan Beast World Championship will be held in Al Wathba Desert in Abu Dhabi from 28th November to 1st December 2024.
Thousands of professional and amateur athletes, alongside members of the local community, will participate in the championship. The first day of the championship will debut a new ladies-only Night Sprint, a route comprised of 20 obstacles over a five kilometre distance, which will give female athletes the opportunity to compete in complete privacy and test their limits amidst the sand dunes of Al Wathba Desert.
On 29th November, another five-kilometre Night Sprint with 20 obstacles will take place. Both men and women can compete in this challenge, which is one of the most difficult stages ever of the Spartan series.
On 30 November, the 21-kilometre Beast Race will take place, with 30 obstacles for the Elite and Age Group World Championships, as well as the one- to three-kilometre Obsta
cle Race for Kids. The championship will conclude on 1 December, with the three-kilometre Team Relay Race (Elite Team Relay Championships), the ten-kilometre Super Race, and the five-kilometre Sprint.
Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of ADSC, said: ‘With the great success of the Spartan Beast World Championship in previous years, we are anticipating another exciting and competitive edition, with a variety of race options that will allow a range of athletes of varying abilities to compete.’
Joe De Sena, Spartan Founder, said: ‘With the harsh desert terrain and brutal obstacles, Abu Dhabi is an incredible setting for one of Spartan’s most challenging championship events. Not only does our partnership with Abu Dhabi Sports Council allow us to host the best of the best in an epic location, but also continue to grow the sport of obstacle course racing and the community globally.’
