South Sudan appreciates Egyptian efforts to host COP27

Minister of Presidential Affairs in South Sudan Barnaba Benjamin expressed appreciation of Egyptian efforts to play host to and organize the 27th session of Conference of the Parties of the UN Framework Climate Change Convention (COP27).

South Sudan will participate in COP27 with a high-level delegation, he added at talks with Egypt’s Ambassador to South Sudan Moataz Moustafa Abdel Kader Monday.

The Foreign Ministry said on “Facebook” that Abdel Kader discussed during the meeting with Benjamin the latest developments of Egyptian arrangements for hosting COP27.

The international climate gathering is slated for this November in Sharm El Sheikh.

The meeting also highlighted priorities of the Egyptian presidency for the event, with special focus on the bonds between peace and climate change, an issue of concern to South Sudan, the ministry pointed out.

COP27 aims to reach solutions to be implemented on the ground.

Egypt, meanwhile, is carrying out several important projects in South Sudan, according to the statement.
