At least six civilians were killed Wednesday after a landmine exploded in Lower Shabelle, Somalia, according to the Somali News Agency. The governor of Shabelle, Mohamed Ibrahim Berri, said the landmine explosion, planted by the al-Shabaab militia, killed six civilians and wounded 12 others while on a bus passing on the road linking the Qoryoley and Shalenbod regions. In a related context, the Somali authorities announced the killing of 25 members of the al-Shabaab militia in a joint military operation of the national army and international partners in Kiran province. The military operation on Tuesday in Bolo Purdi targeted a garage used by militias to prepare explosives.
