As part of Egypt’s efforts to battle drug addiction, Social Solidarity Minister and Board of Directors of the Fund for Drug Control and Treatment of Addiction (FDCTA) Nivine el Kabbag launched a new phase of “You are Stronger Than Drugs” campaign.
This came in the presence of President of the National Council for Human Rights (NCHR) Moushira Khattab along with a host of public figures, writers and journalists, as well as representatives of a number of international organizations.
Delivering a speech during a ceremony organized by the FDCTA, Kabbag said drug addiction is an important social problem which has many damaging effects, especially to the peace and security in the society.
The minister, meanwhile, extended thanks to the international football player Mohamed Salah for his voluntary participation in the “You are Stronger Than Drugs” campaign.
The minister also pointed out to the approval of the political leadership to implement the 2022-2026 national plan for combating drug addiction, hailing the State’s efforts in this respect.
Khattab, for her part, welcomed the cooperation between the Social Solidarity Ministry and the NCHR in order to enhance the capabilities of the NGOs.
It is important to enhance the human rights conditions, especially that this year was declared the year of civil society, she added.
Shedding light on the success of “You are Stronger Than Drugs” campaign, Amr Othman, assistant to the social solidarity minister, said the campaign has considerably contributed to social interaction with the hotline.
