Social Solidarity Minister Nevine el Qabbaj on Friday announced that citizens, who were affected by the collapse of a building as a result of the explosion of a butane gas cylinder in Damanhour city of Beheira governorate, will receive compensation.
The explosion led to the death of three persons and the injury of 24 others, as well as a crack in another building.
The minister ordered the head of Beheira’s social solidarity directorate to quickly deal with the incident’s consequences and help the affected families.
Qabbaj explained that some EGP 50,000 would be paid for each death, while each injured would get EGP 5,000.
She noted that each family that suffered property losses would receive EGP 20,000, in addition to providing a subsistence allowance for the affected families.
The minister stated that the Egyptian Red Crescent and partner associations distribute blankets, mattresses and foodstuffs for the affected families.
Qabbaj extended sincere condolences to the victims’ families and gave instructions to offer all assistance needed by them.
