Sobhy attends WADA’s meetings in Canada

Youth and Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhy asserted Egypt is pressing ahead with efforts and programs to promote the values of clean sport and fight against doping and the use of steroids by athletes through constant coordination between his ministry and the Egyptian Anti-Doping Agency.

The move is meant to implement specific programs and projects to attain the target in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA)’s vision and action strategies, he added.

According to a press release by his ministry on Saturday 19/11/2022, Sobhy was speaking at Board Meetings of WADA’s Executive Office in Canada.

The meeting discussed a set of files concerning efforts to prevent doping in sport.

The Agency’s Foundation Board unanimously re-elected the President, Witold Banka, and Vice-President Yang Yang for a second and final three-year term in the top leadership roles of WADA.

The past three years under the leadership of Banka and Yang have been a period of significant advancement for WADA and the global anti-doping system.

Most notably, during this time, the Agency published its 2020-2024 Strategic Plan and carried out wide-ranging governance reform – both placing athletes at the center of the organization.
