President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received on Sunday night a phone call from Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid.
Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said the Israeli premier greeted Sisi on the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, while Sisi congratulated him on assuming his new post.
On the peace process, the two sides exchanged viewpoints on the latest developments regarding the Palestinian issue and they agreed on working on organizing bilateral and multilateral meetings including Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian president during the coming period in order to reactivate the peace talks.
Lapid, on his part, expressed his appreciation for the efforts exerted by Egypt under the leadership of Sisi to achieve security, stability and enhance cooperation in the region.
Meanwhile, Sisi asserted that Egypt would continue its efforts to realize comprehensive and just peace based on the two-state solution and the international terms of reference so as to open up spheres of cooperation and development for all peoples of the region.
The Egyptian president also asserted the necessity of maintaining calm in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip as well as extending help to the Palestinian Authority in all fields, especially the economic one.
Talks also covered bilateral relations as they agreed that the Israeli authorities will conduct a comprehensive and transparent probe into reports circulated by Israeli press on an incident that took place during the six-day war of 1967 against some Egyptian soldiers who are buried in Al Quds.
Lapid, on his part, asserted that the Israeli side will deal with the issue with all positivity and transparency and will contact and coordinate with the Egyptian authorities on any updates regarding the issue in order to reach the truth
