Sisi prioritizes cooperation with African countries – FM

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said Sunday that media outlets bear great responsibility for spreading awareness about the priorities of the African peoples and ways of accelerating action to achieve common interests and bring about security and stability in Africa.

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi issued directives to cooperate with the African peoples and countries to achieve security and stability and face various challenges, the top diplomat told an opening ceremony of a four-week training course organized by the Media Studies and Training Center of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, with the participation of 20 media professionals from Sudan.

Global media changes, both in form and content, require developing national capabilties to communicate with citizens, the minister said.

Egypt has media institutions and figures, who can help the training program achieve its objectives by transferring their expertise and honing the skills of media professionals in Africa, he added.

In turn, Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Karam Gabr said Sudanese national security is an integral part of the Egyptian national security.

The training program for African journalists reflects the constants of the Egyptian policy, which are based on developing relations with the countries and peoples of Africa and addressing issues of common interests to achieve stability and prosperity, he added.

Also, MENA Chairman and Editor-in-Chief Ali Hassan said President Sisi pays special attention to Sudan and its people.

For his part, Sudan’s Ambassador in Cairo Mohamed Elias Mohamed Al-Hajj lauded deeply-rooted relations between Egypt and Sudan, praising the Egyptian role in cooperating with African peoples in various fields.
