President Abdel Fattah El Sisi said on Friday Egypt looks forward to bolstering cooperation with the Norwegian side in various fields as well as coordination on issues and files of common interest.
President Sisi’s remarks came during his meeting on Friday with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Brest city of France, Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady noted.
Støre stated his country is keen to enhance ties with Egypt, pointing to the pivotal role of Egypt in maintaining stability in the Middle East and Africa region.Støre said he looks forward to fostering aspects of cooperation between the two countries, appreciating Egypt’s efforts in reaching political solutions for regional crises.
The two leaders touched on strengthening cooperation in the fields of energy and trade exchange, as well as benefiting from the Norwegian expertise in projects related to clean energy and transport.They also discussed bilateral cooperation in Africa in light of their keenness to support development in the continent in addition to luring more Norwegian investments to Egypt.
They tackled ways of cooperation to secure and facilitate activities of international navigation given that the Suez Canal is one of the vital waterways for international trade.Sisi and Støre discussed outlining a mechanism for international cooperation to limit marine pollution.
