CAIRO: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi convened with Prime Minister Dr. Moustafa Madbouly and Minister of Religious Endowments Dr. Usama Al-Azhari to discuss a comprehensive action plan for the Ministry of Endowments. The meeting focused on the enhancement of religious awareness, the training of religious leaders, and the revival of traditional Islamic education.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the President received an update on the Ministry of Endowment’s multi-faceted action plan. Minister Al-Azhari outlined the ministry’s efforts to enhance the training of imams and the development of new preaching strategies. The discussion included the ministry’s initiatives to foster religious awareness and renew religious discourse, as well as the outcomes of the General Assembly meeting of “The Union of Arab Awqaf.”
The President was also briefed on a proposal to revive traditional Islamic schools, known as Kuttab. Efforts to qualify religious leaders in various domains, supported by ‘The Awqaf Academy,’ were reviewed. The qualification process involves experts in religious sciences and social studies to improve the leaders’ expertise in addressing contemporary issues.
Additionally, the meeting addressed plans to upgrade the preachers’ hospital to enhance healthcare services. President El-Sisi emphasized the need to improve conditions for religious figures and continue training programs using advanced methods. He also called for a detailed study on the feasibility and impact of reviving traditional Islamic education on future generations.
