President Abdel Fattah El Sisi asserted that Egypt is eager to boost cooperation with Germany in the coming period and enhance political coordination and the exchange of viewpoints regarding different files of mutual interest.
Speaking at a meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin Monday, Sisi said Egypt has many promising investment chances in major national projects, according to presidential spokesman Bassam Radi.
The president added that he looks forward to Germany’s increased contribution to Egyptian development plans in various priority fields, Radi said.
President Sisi expressed appreciation of the talks he held with the German chancellor for the first time ever and commended the quantum leap witnessed in Egypt-Germany relations on all fronts, he added
Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi said Scholz welcomed president Sisi’s visit to Berlin, praising profound and deep-rooted ties binding Egypt and Germany, particularly in the economic and commercial fields.
Egypt is a most important partner to Germany in the Middle East, as the country is key to stability and security in the region, added Radi.
The spokesman said the German chancellor reiterated his country’s utmost keenness on supporting ambitious measures Egypt is taking to achieve development nationwide.
Radi also said talks between both sides tackled ways of fostering bilateral cooperation, with special focus on the domains of liquefied natural gas, clean energy, green hydrogen and education.
He continued the talks took up means to coordinate efforts with Egypt as a pivotal partner to the European Union in a host of regional and international issues of joint concern, including the crisis in Libya.
Radi further pointed out that the two sides discussed the latest developments of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam issue, noting that president Sisi and chancellor Scholz agreed on the importance of breaking the current deadlock on the track of negotiations to reach a balanced, binding and legal deal on filling up and operating the dam.
The spokesman added the discussions also dwelt with ways of promoting joint cooperation as part of Egypt’s efforts to host a global climate summit, COP27, slated for November in Sharm El-Sheikh, given that the two countries play crucial roles as far as environment and climate issues are concerned.
Scholz voiced hope COP27 will be rendered a success and come up with tangible outcomes on the ground to serve global climate action, according to Radi.
