Sisi directs to continue development of Suez Canal Authority facilities

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed Thursday 14/4/2022 to continue the development of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) facilities and the waterway’s navigation course to reinforce its unique strategic status as an international trade lifeline.

Sisi’s instructions came during his meeting with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli and Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Osama Rabei.

The meeting touched on following up the activity of the Suez Canal Authority, said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Radi.

President Sisi was also briefed on the navigation movement in the Suez Canal. Rabei, meanwhile, reviewed with President Sisi the indications of the canal’s activity since the beginning of the year until now, including the revenues, the number of ships crossing the canal and the volume of goods and cargo.

Rabie also reviewed the axes of developing the southern sector of the navigation course of the canal as well as the SCA’s efforts to develop its marine fleet, including tugs and dredgers.

The SCA’s chief also shed light on ongoing efforts with the international partners, especially the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to discuss cooperation in activity related to the SCA.
