President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government on Monday to continue efforts of developing communications and information technology sector as one of the main pillars of economic and social growth in the country.
During a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Communications Minister Amr Talaat, Sisi directed enhancing investments in human cadres and providing training and rehabilitation programs to deliver best online services in order to cope up with new requirements of the labor market.
Presidential spokesman Bassam Rady said the President followed up progress rate of current national projects in the information technology and communications sector.
The meeting comes as part of State’s digital transformation plan and development efforts, the spokesman said.
Talaat briefed Sisi on the progress rate of some projects, including the educational process at Egypt University of Informatics and scholarships granted to top thanaweya amma to join it, development rate of under-construction Knowledge City at the New Administrative Capital, Digital Egypt initiative that aims at improving government performance through providing digital services to citizens as well as efforts to digitalize government hospitals.
The minister also updated Sisi on tablet computers and fiber optic cables production projects which come as part of State’s plan to develop electronics industry and enhance local manufacturing.
