Mohamed Sami Abdel Sadek, a distinguished law professor and academic leader, has been appointed as the President of Cairo University, following a decree by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, announced the decree on Thursday 17/10/2024.

Abdel Sadek has been serving as acting president of the university over the recent months, succeeding Mohamed Othman El-Khosht, who reached the state pension age

leading the university for seven years from 2017 until the end of July 2024.
