Sisi also affirmed Egypt’s confidence in the ability of Tunisia under the leadership of President Kais Saied to pass the current delicate stage towards a future that fulfills the Tunisian people’s aspirations.
The Egyptian leader made the remarks during his meeting on Friday with Tunisian Prime Minister Najla Bouden in the port city of Brest in northwestern France, where the One Ocean Summit is being held.
During the meeting, Sisi asked the Tunisian premier to convey his greetings to Tunisian President Kais Saied, expressing Egypt’s appreciation of its close and historic ties with Tunisia, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
The Tunisian prime minister said her country is proud of its close and extended relations with Egypt at both official and grass-roots levels.
Bouden also asserted the Tunisian side’s keenness to proceed with the current pace of periodic consultation and coordination with Egypt on regional issues of mutual concern in the face of various challenges the region is going through.
In this regard, she praised Cairo’s efforts in support of Tunisia, as well as its vital role in safeguarding regional security and stability.
The talks tackled ways to bolster Egypt-Tunisia relations at all levels, especially with regard to facilitating trade exchange and boosting joint investments, with the two sides expressing their satisfaction of the current level of bilateral cooperation and coordination.
Sisi and Bouden emphasized the importance of supporting this cooperation to serve the interests of the two countries and their peoples, the spokesman said.
The two sides also probed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, particularly the developments of the situation in Libya.
