Egypt eyes more investments in the renewable and clean energy sectors including solar, wind and green hydrogen energies to increase its energy investment share to reach 42 percent by 2035, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has said.
Shoukry’s statements came in a meeting with members of the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU) at the United Nations in New York, said Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid on Tuesday 20/9/2022.
According to the spokesman, Shoukry shed light on relations between Egypt and the United States as the two countries celebrate this year the centennial anniversary of establishing relations between them.
He said that Egypt is the biggest trade partner for the United States in Africa and at the same time the two sides continue coordination on regional and international issues of mutual concern.
Abu Zeid added that Shoukry reviewed Egypt’s efforts to become a regional hub for energy in light of its role in launching the Mediterranean Gas Forum as well as its potentials that enable it to facilitate gas energy resources to Europe.
Abu Zeid added that Shoukry explained Egypt’s vision during its presidency of the climate change conference (COP27) as well as its efforts to promote dialogue and coordination to face the climate change effects.
