Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received on Monday a phone call from UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen in light of the periodical coordination and consolation on the developments of the Syrian issue.
Pedersen briefed Shoukry on the current movements and contacts to politically settle the Syrian crisis, lauding the Egyptian supportive role in the settlement process, Foreign Ministry’s Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
Shoukry stressed that Egypt is greatly keen to push the political process in Syria forward to end the political impasse, asserting that the comprehensive settlement should include Syria’s full sovereignty on all its territories.
The foreign minister affirmed the necessity of prioritizing the national interest of Syria among the parties of the crisis to end the prolonged conflict.
