Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry inaugurated on Tuesday 7/3/2023 the 10th Egyptian traditional and handicraft products fair under the title of “Buy the Egyptian Product” held at the Foreign Ministry premises under the sponsorship of the National Coordinating Committee to Combat and Prevent Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM & TIP).

Shoukry made a tour of the exhibition and listened to a brief explanation from NCCPIM & TIP Chairperson Naela Gabr on the exhibited products which include hand-made carpets, pottery, furnishings, silver products, accessories, among others.

In statements to reporters during his tour, Shoukry said that the exhibition presents a variety of creative products which reflect the Egyptian heritage and provide good opportunities for exhibitors to showcase their production at wider scopes.

He also noted that the Foreign Ministry gains benefits from backing this exhibition which sheds light on the unique and creative nature of the local industry and market for them at the Egyptian embassies abroad.

Shoukry expressed his best wishes to exhibitors, hoping that the exhibition will gain a high turnout in order to encourage producers to continue their creative activities and innovative ideas.

Meanwhile, Gabr said that 26 exhibitors are participating in this year’s edition of “Buy the Egyptian Product” fair, noting that some of them are from Menufiya governorate and the North Sinai city of Arish and that such variety of exhibitors from different governorates came in line with instructions from the foreign minister.

She also said the exhibition aims at encouraging Egyptian diplomats to purchase the Egyptian products to offer them as gifts to their counterparts in foreign countries along with displaying them at the premises of the Egyptian embassies abroad.

Gabr also said that this year’s edition included two exhibitors from the people with special needs, adding that the exhibition witnessed a high turnout by foreign diplomats in Cairo and has been successful over the past years due to the backing and support showed by the Egyptian Foreign Ministry which offers its halls for free to the exhibitors.

She also made it clear that this exhibition also aims at encouraging the Egyptian producers as part of the national strategy approved by the prime minister to combat illegal migration and human trafficking along with providing new job opportunities of the youth.
