Shoukry heads to Luxemburg

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry headed on Sunday to Luxemburg to attend the ninth meeting of the EU-Egypt Association Council.

 

The council will convene under Shoukry and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell.

 

The meeting is scheduled to endorse a document on Egypt-EU partnership priorities within the framework of cooperation between the two sides in the period from 2021-2027.

 

Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said Shoukry will hold talks with a group of European foreign ministers on the sidelines of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

 

The talks are expected to tackle a host of issues of mutual concern, topped by Egypt’s hosting of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).

 

Shoukry will hold a number of tete-a-tete meetings with European foreign ministers, the spokesman said.

 

The foreign minister will also meet with the Grand Duke of Luxemburg to review means of enhancing bilateral cooperation.

 

Shoukry will also hold talks with the Luxemburg parliament speaker, foreign minister and environment minister on means of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various domains.

 

Egypt’s top diplomat is also scheduled to hold talks with the European Investment Bank chairman on means of boosting investments in Egypt, especially in the green transition domain.
