Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry in an interview over the phone on Tuesday 15/2/2022 with Ala Masouliti program on Sada el-Balad TV channel, said that ties binding Egypt and the European Union (EU) are close, deeply rooted and multi-dimensional.
Egypt always seeks to entrench and widen the scope of relations with the EU on the political and economic levels, said the minister.
As for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), Shoukry said the issue of the GERD is always placed at the top of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s priorities in all his meetings, adding that Egypt is keen on reaching a binding legal solution for the problem that protects the rights of Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia.
Asked about the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, he said Egypt is always looking forward to realizing peace and security across the world and reaching a peaceful solution for any conflict.
The foreign minister said the current crisis gripping the world as a result of the coronavirus pandemic proves that all world countries inevitably depend on each other, as they share a common objective; thus highly advocating a peaceful approach for all disputes to avoid negative impacts on development efforts and global markets.
