CAIRO: Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and his US counterpart Antony Blinken reviewed the latest updates of the Gaza Strip crisis during a phone call on Saturday, the Middle East News Agency (MENA) reported today.
During their phone conversation, the top diplomats also discussed a ceasefire proposal announced by US President Joe Biden, according Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid.
They also probed ongoing mediation efforts made by Egypt, Qatar, and the US to reach an immediate ceasefire and ensure the safe and unhindered flow of humanitarian assistance into and throughout the Gaza Strip.
Emphasising the critical need for reopening all border crossings for the delivery of humanitarian aid and ensuring the safety of relief workers in the Gaza Strip, Shoukry and Blinken agreed to maintain close coordination and consultation to stop the war in the Gaza Strip and put an end to the exacerbating humanitarian crisis in the war-ravaged enclave.
