DUBAI: The 12th Sheikha Hind Women’s Sports Tournament will kick off tomorrow, Wednesday, with over 1,200 athletes competing across eight sports.

Organised by Dubai Sports Council under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, the event aims to attract female sports talent and raise awareness about women’s role in sports.

The tournament, running for two weeks until 30th October, will feature bowling, running, cycling, padel, badminton, shooting, an obstacle race, and 3×3 basketball.

Bowling will open the event at 15:00 at Dubai International Bowling Centre, with strong participation from government, semi-government, and private institutions.

The 5-kilometre run will follow on Thursday, 17th October, at Expo City Dubai, with the padel competition beginning on Friday, 18th October, at Just Padel Club in Mina Rashid, running until 20th October.

Badminton will be held at
Al Nasr Sports Club from 21st to 24th October. The 30-kilometre cycling race will take place at Al Forsan Park Track, Expo City Dubai, on Friday, 25th October, followed by shooting at the Fazza Saktoun Rifle Range in Al Ruwayyah on 26th October.

The obstacle race will be held at Gravity Gym in Al Quoz on 27th October, followed by 3×3 basketball at Al Nasr Sports Club from 28th to 30th October.

Manish Dhamani, CEO of Dhamani 1969, a key sponsor, said, ‘We are proud to be part of this event as we mark 10 years of collaboration with Dubai Sports Council. We wish all participants the best and hope they shine like diamonds throughout the tournament.’

To ensure maximum participation, all competitions will be held in the evenings to avoid conflicts with working hours.

The event will follow national federation rules, tailored to the capabilities of participants from government, semi-government, and private sectors.
