Sharp decline in industrial production index


The Central Bureau of Statistics reported that the industrial production index recorded a sharp decline of 29.77% during the month of June compared to the same month in 2023, as the industrial production index decreased to 74.72 during June 2024 compared to 106.39 during 2023 (base year 2019 = 100).

The statistics explained in a statement issued today, Sunday, that the industrial production quantity index recorded a decrease of 4.74% during June 2024 compared to May 2024, as the industrial production quantity index decreased to 74.72 during June compared to 78.44 during May (base year 2019 = 100).

He pointed out that manufacturing activities recorded a decrease of 7.38% during June 2024 compared to the previous month, with a relative importance of 87.89% of total industrial activities.

As for the sub-activities that have a large relative impact on the overall index, some manufacturing activities recorded a decline during last June compared to the previous month, the most important of which are: the food pr
oducts industry, the basic pharmaceutical products industry and their preparations industry, the printing and reproduction of recorded media activity, the manufacture of other non-metallic mineral products, the textile industry, the clothing industry, and the leather and related products industry.

The index recorded an increase in some activities, most notably: the manufacture of fabricated metal products, except for machinery and equipment, the beverage industry, the manufacture of rubber and plastic products, the furniture industry, and the manufacture of tobacco products
