SARDINIA: Emirates boats excelled in the third round of the Formula 1 World Championship on the Italian island of Sardinia, with the Sharjah 17 boat achieving the fastest time.
The Sharjah 17, piloted by Rusty Witt, clocked the best time at 37.756 seconds. Close behind, the Abu Dhabi 5 boat, led by Thani Al Qamzi, secured second place with a time of 37.806 seconds, just a fraction of a second slower.
Frenchman Peter Morin claimed third place with a time of 38.339 seconds on boat 7, while Swedish racer Jonas Andersson took fourth, finishing at 38.175 seconds. Eric Stark, piloting the Victorian 4 boat, came in fifth with a time of 38.316 seconds.
The main and final race of the round will take place tomorrow, featuring 18 boats, with UAE boats poised for a strong start based on these qualifying results. The competition began with all Emirati boats advancing through the initial qualifiers, with three ultimately reaching the final qualifying round and securing top positions.
