BETHLEHEM: Colonial Israeli settlers installed two mobile homes today in the wilderness of the village of Tuqu, located southeast of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank, according to local sources.
Hassan Brejieh, the director of the Segregation Wall and Settlement Resistance Authority in Bethlehem, told WAFA that settlers erected the mobile homes in the wilderness of the village, bringing the total number of such illegal structures in the area to five.
Additionally, he added, the settlers installed an iron gate in a neighboring area, preventing local residents from accessing their lands.
Brejieh reported that the settlers also installed electricity lines to an old house they had forcibly taken over in the area, after compelling its owner to evacuate.
Furthermore, the official continued, the settlers recently constructed roads in preparation for establishing a new settlement outpost in the region, following the eviction and demolition of tents and dwellings belonging to Palestinian landowners.
Israeli oc
cupation forces and settler militias have escalated their abuses in the area, including harassing farmers, demolishing their agricultural structures and tents, and confiscating their contents.
