Settlers set up a new colonial outpost northeast of Jerusalem

Extremist Israeli settlers placed caravans last night on a Palestinian land near the town of Mekhmas, northeast of occupied Jerusalem, ushering in a new settlement outpost, according to local sources. Witnesses told WAFA that scores of Israeli settlers occupied a Palestinian-owned land in a strategic area near the town where they erected caravans and other structures in a prelude to establish a new settlement outpost. Israeli settlement activities in the occupied West Bank are illegal in international law, including the Fourth Geneva Convention which expressly prohibits the relocation of the civil population of the occupying power to the land of the occupied.
