Serving Interest of Egyptian Expats Priority to Gov’t: FM


Muscat: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty said Monday caring for Egyptian citizens abroad, meeting their needs, and improving the quality and efficiency of consular services are matters of top priority to the government. This statement was made during a meeting with members of the Egyptian community in Oman, as part of his official visit to the sultanate.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting is part of the foreign ministry’s efforts to enhance communication channels with Egyptian communities abroad, listening to their suggestions, aspirations, and challenges. Abdelatty commended the Egyptian community in Oman for their positive role in promoting the image of Egypt and fostering strong relations between the two countries.



During discussions with Omani officials, Abdelatty heard remarks on the Egyptian expat community’s contributions to Oman’s modernization process. The discussions also touched on economic cooperation between Egypt and Oman, as per a press release.



Abdelatty outlined the ministry’s plans to modernize the consular work system through the digitization of consular services, aiming to streamline transactions and reduce processing times. He emphasized efforts to launch services and initiatives benefiting Egyptians abroad, urging the expat community to actively partake in Egypt’s development, exercise their constitutional rights, and maintain ties with their homeland. He also highlighted the importance of fostering patriotism among second and third-generation Egyptian expats.
