SEC reviews report on supplementary grant for retirees

Sharjah: The Sharjah Executive Council’s meeting was convened at the Sharjah Ruler’s Office, presided over by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council.

The Council examined various agenda items pertaining to the oversight of government departments and agencies. The focus was on enhancing their performance to improve citizen services, foster societal unity across all demographics, and sustain growth in key sectors.

In light of the directives issued by the Ruler of Sharjah, the Council has examined the report concerning the supplementary grant provided to retirees. This grant is extended to retirees from federal entities, other local emirate governments, or the private sector who are registered in Sharjah.

The aim is to ensure that the supplementary assistance in their salaries amounts to a minimum of AED17,500. This initiative is designed to guarantee a respectable standard of living for retirees from the emira
te of Sharjah and to bolster their financial and social well-being for themselves and their families.

The report covered the number of beneficiaries of the supplementary grant, which amounted to 5,118 people, at a cost of more than AED473 million. The Council also reviewed the most prominent statistics, figures, comparisons, and several registrants, in addition to recommendations and proposals.

The Council examined the report outlining the preparations of Sharjah for the 53rd National Day celebrations. The report encompassed the key events, exhibitions, and educational sessions scheduled to take place throughout the cities and regions of Sharjah. It also detailed the visual identity designed for the celebrations, which draws inspiration from the state’s 2024 initiative, titled the “Year of Sustainability.”

The Council has instructed that the activities should cater to all segments of society, bolster the national identity of the younger generation, embody sentiments of jubilation and pride in the union and
its accomplishments, and honour the founding leaders and their endeavours in uniting the nation.
