Chairman of the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) Walid Gamal El Din said the zone seeks to achieve its ambitious strategy to become a global hub for green energy.
Gamal El Din made the comments during his meeting on Friday 14/06/2024 with a Dutch delegation comprising companies specialized in green fuel and its complementary industries. The group was led by Han Feenstra, the coordinator of international hydrogen policy at the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate.
The SCZone’s strategy is based on conducting in-depth studies to find unconventional solutions to reduce the cost of green fuel production, said Gamal El Din.
He noted that the SCZONE established the first project to produce green fuel, which saw the export of the first green ammonia shipment to India, in conjunction with the 27th session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP27) in the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh in 2022.
SCZONE head stated that a number of memorandums of understanding (MoUs) were sig
ned with major international alliances and companies specialized in green energy to build projects that will contribute to reducing carbon emissions.
