An archaeological team from the University of Barcelona has discovered two adjacent tombs that date back to the Sawy era in Bahnasa district of Minya, said Secretary General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) Moustafa Waziri Sunday.
The remains of two unknown persons were found near one of the tombs, Waziri said. A female-shaped casket made of limestone was found inside a tomb, which also contained remains of an unknown person, he explained. Waziri could tell that this tomb had been visited before.
The head of the Spanish mission said the second tomb was completely closed, adding that his team was the first to open it during excavations in the area.
