Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Osama Rabie and French Ambassador in Cairo Marc Baretti discussed Friday ways of boosting cooperation.

The Suez Canal is an essential pillar of the global trade movement and a major source of Egyptian national income, which makes its development a continuous process that receives full attention and periodic follow-up of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Rabie said.

The SCA chief reviewed the canal’s waterway development strategy, which includes several major projects that focus on enhancing the response to potential navigational emergencies and ensuring the sustainability of navigation.

In turn, Baretti hailed the active role played by the Suez Canal in serving the global trade movement, expressing France’s interest in following up development projects of the waterway and its participation in achieving sustainable development for this vital area.
