The torch of the Saudi Games 2024 has returned to the capital, Riyadh, after a 30-day journey across the regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, covering over 3,500 km, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday. The torch relay was organised ahead of the third edition of the national sporting event, which kicks off today and runs until 17th October in Riyadh.
The torch is not just a sports symbol but also represents the noble values embodied by the Saudi Games and spreads a message of peace and friendship to all. Travelling to various regions of the Kingdom, the torch was celebrated in at least 17 cities, and 47 cultural and historical landmarks. Champions and influencers who had made significant contributions to the nation accompanied the torch relay.
Established in 2022, the Saudi Games aims to foster a more active and healthy society. With a total prize pool of SAR200 million, this year’s edition will feature 53 sport events.
