Saqr Ghobash, President of Morocco’s House of Councillors discuss bilateral relations


Saqr Ghobash, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has met Naam Mayara, President of the House of Councillors, the upper house of the Parliament of Morocco, on the sidelines of his participation in the International Parliamentary Union’s (IPU) meeting as part of the 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) at Expo City Dubai.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation, communication, and coordination on various issues of mutual interest. Recognising the importance of knowledge sharing and joint expertise, the participants emphasised the need for increased parliamentary exchanges and consultations. These measures aim to solidify existing bilateral relations and explore future opportunities for collaboration, ultimately benefiting both countries and their citizens.

FNC Speaker praised Mayara and the accompanying delegation’s visit to the parliamentary meeting during the COP28. He also emphasised that FNC was keen on involving all parliamentarians to focus on practical solutions to achieve sustai
nable results, link our initiatives and the outcomes of our conference with the main conference, and highlight the important role that parliamentarians can play in global issues.

In turn, Mayara emphasised the depth of the deep-rooted and established historical fraternal relations that bring together the Kingdom of Morocco and the UAE and their cooperation in many fields.

He also praised the success of the FNC’s organisation and hosting of the parliamentary meeting accompanying the climate conference, and the initiatives announced by the UAE to support climate change issues and its efforts in the areas of sustainable development, innovation, artificial intelligence, space, and the empowerment of women and youth.

The meeting was attended by several FNC members.
