Safadi holds meetings with foreign ministers in New York on regional, international developments

Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi Wednesday held meetings with foreign ministers on the sidelines of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on regional and international developments. Safadi and the Bahraini Foreign Minister, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, discussed regional and international issues, especially the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Territories and efforts to resolve regional crises. Safadi met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and discussed bilateral ties, the situation in southern Syria and efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis, in addition to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Territories and the Ukrainian crisis and its repercussions. Safadi and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock held talks on strategic relations between the two countries and ways to enhance them as part of the partnership with the EU and the latest developments related to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian Territories and the Syrian crisis. Safadi praised Germany for supporting Jordan to counter the burdens of hosting refugees and the country’s development. Yesterday, Safadi and Norwegian Foreign Minister Anniken Huitfeld held a meeting on bilateral ties and regional and international developments. The two ministers discussed the ongoing preparations for holding the ministerial meeting of the contact committee ad hoc to coordinate international aid for the Palestinians, which will be held later today. The top diplomats discussed supporting the Palestinian national economy and reviving the peace process. Safadi and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Honduras, Eduardo Enrique, held discussions on bilateral relations. They signed a memo regarding establishing a mechanism for political consultations. Safadi and Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly discussed developing bilateral relations and issues of common interest.
