Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi Tuesday talked over the phone with the foreign ministers of Sweden, Spain, France and the UK and the EU high representative for foreign affairs and security policy about the Amman Consultative Meeting on Syria. Safadi explained to his counterparts the “importance” of the meeting, which is part of the Jordanian initiative and that of Saudi and other Arab efforts and contacts, in starting a dialogue with the Syrian government to end the Syrian crisis. Safadi noted the agreement, which was reflected in the joint final statement issued at the meeting. He informed his counterparts that the meeting outcomes would contribute to solving the Syrian crisis and addressing “major” issues such as the issue of refugees, border security, terrorism and drug smuggling.
