Russia’s trade surplus in H1 2024 grows 16% to $76.7 bn


Russia’s trade surplus in the first half of 2024 reached US$76.7 billion, growing 16.2 percent year-on-year, data from the country’s Federal Customs Service showed on Friday???.

Sputnik reported that total Russian exports during January-June amounted to US$207.1 billion, down 0.4 percent from the same period a year earlier. The country’s imports in the said period fell by 8.1 percent to US$130.4 billion, the data showed.

The total amount of Russia’s foreign trade over the first six months of the year amounted to US$337.5 billion.

Russia’s exports to Asian countries over the period reached US$156.2 billion, growing by 8.5 percent, while imports to these countries went down 4.8 percent year-on-year to reach US$86.6 billion.

European countries’ imports from Russia over the period dropped by 33.8 percent to reach US$31.7 billion. Over the same period, Russia’s imports from European countries decreased by 14.1 percent to reach US$34.9 billion.

During January-June 2024, Russian exports to the United States inc
reased by 14.2 percent to reach US$6.7 billion, while imports from the country amounted to US$6.9 billion, down 15.8 percent.
